Internal collection: The Emma Center Collection

Identifier: The Emma Center Collection
Description: The Emma Center, located at 3451 Bloomington Avenue South in Minneapolis, MN, was established in 1992 by members of the Twin Cities Anarchist Federation to serve as community space, infoshop, punk show venue and zine library. Named in honor of pioneering anarchist Emma Goldman, the Center hosted Wimmin-only and Queer-only meeting space. During the three years of its (profane) existence, the queer zine collection alone was one of the largest publicly accessible zine libraries of its kind. Upon Emma Center's dissolution in 1995, a collective member boxed up the queer zines and saved them for thirteen years in a basement before they were donated to QZAP in 2008.
